Resistance treatment is a revolutionary program designed to strengthen and stabilize the musculature of the legs and trunk of your body by using eccentric contraction.
There are two phases of a contraction during movement, the lifting (concentric) and the lowering (eccentric). During the concentric phase the muscle fibers shorten. In the eccentric phase the muscle fibers lengthen. Research shows that the body can lower much heavier loads than it can lift and the lowering of these loads is a great stimulus for muscle development. In most settings, one is limited in the amount of weight used by the amount they can actually lift concentrically; therefore a lesser weight is used. This is the method practiced in most workout settings, but when compared to training eccentrically, results achieved take a much longer period of time.
Our Resistance Treatment Program uses advanced machine technology, combining the concept of concentric loading with the more efficient and more effective eccentric loading. This method is accomplished by loading the concentric and eccentric phases independently. Predetermined loads are applied allowing individuals to lift a lighter concentric load while lowering heavier eccentric loads.
Our program consists of 20 minute sessions, once per week where a series of three different exercises are repeated targeting the trunk and lower body. The muscle force generated during this eccentric exercise is very high compared to concentric exercise; therefore a 5-7 day recovery period is recommended and results are seen within a shorter period of time.
